Challenge

During 2010, Londonderry Port found that the levels of electronic data being generated by the business were growing exponentially and that their existing IT infrastructure was unable to cope. Furthermore, the business was having to deal with higher volumes of payment and maintenance transactions within its expanding supply chain. In an effort to deal with this the IT team, lead by IT Director Mark Doherty, set out to find a new data storage solution to address the challenges being faced.

During this exercise Londonderry Port consulted their preferred IT solution partner, Loughtec, and laid out the requirement to provide a solution that would not only address the immediate requirement but would also provide future scalability and increased performance at a competitive price point.
